Special Assembly organized on 22nd August 2025 on the current issue "Reduce the use of Plastic".
Students of classes 1st to 5th focused on this topic and gave a brief summary of it. They
prepared Posters and Placards too.
They explained the solution lies in conscious lifestyle choices. Students and young citizens can
play a powerful role by saying no to single-use plastic such as bags, straws, and disposable
cutlery. Using alternatives like cloth bags, glass or metal bottles, and biodegradable materials
can significantly reduce plastic pollution. Recycling and waste segregation at the source are
also essential steps.
Reducing plastic is not just about changing habits—it is about rethinking our relationship with
the environment. Every choice we make today will decide whether future generations inherit a
planet full of life or one choked by plastic waste.
The problem is that plastic is non-biodegradable—it can take up to 500 years or more to break
down. As a result, plastic waste keeps piling up in landfills, blocking drains, polluting rivers, and
harming wildlife. Sea turtles, birds, and cows often mistake plastic for food and suffer painful
deaths.
Even more alarming is the rise of microplastics—tiny plastic particles that have been found in
our soil, water, and even in the human bloodstream. This shows that plastic pollution is not just
an environmental issue but also a serious health concern.
Reducing plastic use is not optional; it is urgent and necessary. By choosing cloth or jute bags
over plastic ones, carrying reusable bottles, avoiding single-use items like straws and cutlery,
and recycling responsibly, we can each contribute to solving this crisis.
